This post from the mother. Though it is not called for any celebrations for a year in respect of her paternal grandmother's recent demise, a 12 year old birthday for a girl warrants some kind of milestone acknowledgement. Besides her late apachi would be the first person to feel bad for her grandaughter missing her birthday. So we decided to hv a small low key do sans the candles and frills just amongst us.

In view of that, I thought a small homemade cake would be apt. Hence i summoned my baking angel, considering my baking mojo has been dwindling again lately and consulted my favourite cookbook, the Google. In seconds i decided on a uncomplicated marble cake recipe, birthday girl's request btw next to blueberry cake. Love my kid, she keeps it really easy for mom.

So there, a doll cake was the most easiest to ice, by the way and so be it. Once the cake was out of the oven, we whizzed off to Carrefour, picked up some stuff including that little doll that looked 10x sweeter than any overpriced barbies. Then got back an hour before the cutting cake time and plunked the doll into the middle of the cake and whipped up a creamcheese frosting (love the silky texture of creamcheese) and within half an hour i was done with the cake. Isn't that wonderful!!!

Time really flies (as clichéd as it is). From a bony lil creature who hated eating, she has blossomed into a pretty young lady, gentle in soul yet able to bounce back in any trying situations and a wisdom beyond her age with a natural inclination to nurturing her little one year old brother. She loves studying, does it at her own initiative and brings home good results. What else can a mother ask for.

Oprah can say whatever she wants, but for me , my kids are my true life purpose. I think whatever insight/skill i possess was meant to put into good use raising my kids. Guiding them the best way i can the best i know of so that they hv a well balanced future with love in their hearts, wisdom in their soul and in the best place they want to be, is my ardent wish for them.

Goin to be a challenging year for her with UPSR and all. God bless.

Hi everyone! Its 2011! It has been so long since i blogged on my blog. I am having fun with my family, especially with my baby brother, Yashiran. There is a new Barbie movie called Barbie A Fairy Secret. It is a very interesting movie.

Plot
Barbie is at the premiere of her latest movie when her co-star and rival, Raquelle, steps on her dress, ripping it. Her stylists, Carrie and Taylor, take her off camera and Carrie, secretly being a fairy, uses magic to mend it. After Barbie goes back to the red carpet, Crystal, another fairy, greets Carrie and Taylor, having just finished taking some pictures of the carpet. She goes back to Gloss Angeles, taking one final picture of Ken.
Back in Gloss Angeles, Crystal shows Princess Graciella the pictures she took at the premiere. She gives the Princess a purple drink, a love potion, which turns her eyes form blue to purple. Crystal then shows the Princess the picture of Ken she took, and Graciella falls in love with him on the spot.
The next day at Wally’s restaurant, Ken, Barbie, and her stylists are discussing the movie premiere when Raquelle shows up, making fun of Barbie’s torn dress. Barbie follows her outside and confronts her, sticking up for herself. The stylists and Ken follow them to watch. While the two are arguing, Princess Graciella, Crystal, and two assistant fairies show up and kidnap Ken. Carrie and Taylor sprout their wings, attempting to stop the Princess from taking Ken, but they’re too late. The portal to Gloss Angeles closes before they can enter it.
Taylor searches for something on a Fairy Phone while Carrie attempts to dissuade Raquelle and Barbie of the fact that they just saw fairies. Carrie finds what she was looking for on the phone, a clothing store. Meanwhile in Gloss Angeles, Ken and the Princess arrive in the royal palace. Ken meets Zane, Graciella’s boyfriend. Zane is outraged, thinking that Ken is trying to steal his girlfriend, not the other way around. Zane challenges Ken to three duels.
Barbie, Raquelle and the fairies go to a clothing store, where there is a Fairy Flyway. The fairies reveal that every empty, closed stall in clothing stores is occupied by a Flyway, and the fitting room attendant is a fairy. They enter the Flyway, teleporting to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The fairies reveal that Lilianna Roxelle, a fashion critic from the previous movie, is the oldest and wisest fairy living on Earth. They fly through the city, Barbie and Raquelle holding on to Carrie and Taylor’s hands. Back in Gloss Angeles, Ken and Zane continue to prepare for the duel.
Barbie, Raquelle, Carrie, and Taylor arrive at Lilianna’s house, stating their problem. Lilianna reveals that Graciella must be under a love potion, which adds red to the eyes. She gets a vial of antidote for the love potion, gives it to Barbie, and lets them use her portal to Gloss Angeles.
They arrive in the fairy city, an island floating in the sky. The fairies take them to Wings ‘n Things, a store that sells clip-on wings for human use. After some practice with the new wings, the four girls set off to the palace, the highest point in the city. Meanwhile in the palace, the first phase of the duel between Ken and Zane begins. The first phase involves casting their best magic spell. Ken can’t cast any spells, but he cleverly avoids all of Zane’s blasts.
Barbie and her friends continue flying up to the palace, but encounter turbulence and almost fall. They land on some pegaponies, colored, flying horses that fly them the rest of the way. When they near the palace, the group encounters several swirlnadoes, pink and green tornadoes that will make even the best flier lose their balance. Barbie volunteers Raquelle to guide them through the swirlnadoes, saying that she is the best horse-rider of the four. The group makes it through successfully, arriving at the palace. They sneak into the palace disguised as chefs.
Once inside the palace, Barbie hears Ken yell and the four fly up to find up. Ken and Zane are continuing their duel. Barbie flies in front of Ken to stop Zane from blasting him again. Barbie attempts to give Graciella the love potion antidote, but the Princess freezes her, Raquelle, Ken, Carrie and Taylor with a spell. Crystal reveals that Carrie and Taylor are in the palace, and Graciella (who has hated Carrie and Taylor ever since they abandoned her) banishes the two and their human friends to the dungeon by trapping them in Fury Spheres. Graciella makes Ken propose to her with a spell.
The wedding begins, but Barbie and her friends are still stuck in the dungeons. Carrie tries several random items (a pair of novelty teeth, a rope, and a baseball bat) to try to break the cage, but none work. Carrie’s shoes don’t help, either. Barbie and Raquelle sit down and talk, discovering that their hatred towards each other is a complete misunderstanding. They forgive each other and promise to be friends, earning themselves real wings, because forgiveness lets you fly.
The two fly up to the grand hall to rescue Ken with their new wings. Zane objects to the wedding, trying desperately to win Graciella back. Barbie and Raquelle stop the wedding just in time, revealing to the public that the Princess is under the influence of a love potion. Raquelle distracts the assistant fairies while Graciella battles with Barbie. Barbie finally releases the antidote over Graciella’s head, curing her of the love potion. The Princess confronts Carrie and Taylor, who reveal why they seemingly abandoned her and got banished. The three become friends again, and Graciella sentences Crystal to clean the entire palace after the wedding reception, stating that she and Zane were to get married.
Graciella tells Barbie and Raquelle that their wings will disappear when they go back to Earth, and then reappear when they return to Gloss Angeles. Raquelle says that she plans to tell the world about the fairy secret, which is against fairy law. The fairies aren’t happy about this, but she still plans to. The next morning, Barbie wakes up with no recollection of Gloss Angeles or the fairies, thinking it was a dream. However, she and Raquelle are still friends, fairies or not. Carrie and Taylor tell the two that they reconnected with an old friend, meaning Graciella, and are going back to their hometown, meaning Gloss Angeles.

Melaka

We went to Melaka 2 weeks ago. There were many red buildings there.

I saw a big old ship. Papa said it is a real ship from Portugal that came here many many years ago but now doesnt sail anymore because it is very old. It was a very very hot day, that is why we are all squinting our eyes!!!

We went to see the Eye of Malaysia at night.

It was a huge merry go round.

I was not scared at all. We went around in it 5 times. On one side was the Straits of Malacca and the other, the city.

We had delicious food too. Papa took hours to finally find this place called Newton Food Court.

I had fish porridge while amma loved all their herbal soups. We were very hungry and so forgot to take any pics so these pics are borrowed.

Papa wanted to have really nice Portugese Nyonya food that afternoon. So we went to the Portugese Settlement and had really spicy sour Portugese Baked Fish which I liked very much.

I dont like sotong but i loved the Squid Fritters. Amma bluffed me it was onion rings but i knew it was sotong.

We also went on a Beca Ride the last day. Papa had to take a beca all by himself while Amma and i shared one. It was very hot afternoon but fun.

We took pictures at the real A Famosa Fort. It was all broken down. Here is a picture we took by an old canon. Papa even carried a really huge iguana on his shoulders. It belonged to a man who let people take pictures with it for RM5.

Back in KL the next day, papa brought me to see the Istana Negara, where our King lives. I dint see the king but i saw this man on a horse. He was making really funny faces.

Amma was scared of the horse so papa and I took a pic together. Papa said he is a kinsmen... a guard for the king. Later other kinsmen came and took him away.

Oat Bran Muffin

This morning i made oat bran muffin.

I found this old recipe from a cereal box in my grandmother's recipe collection. It is very easy to make. You need ingredients such as oat, bran, flour, butter, sugar, baking powder and white eggs and mix them well. Then you scoop into paper cups and bake them.

Butter Icing

Yay! It is school holidays! Amma said i can learn to make new things in the kitchen. I did butter icing today.

First, amma helped me bake a pound cake.

Why is it called pound cake? Because it probably weighs a pound. You use 4oz flour, 4oz sugar and 4oz butter with 2 eggs. Which must total to a pound!! You turn the cake over and let it cool.

I whipped butter, icing sugar and some lemon juice which took a long while. Slowly I put a few spoons over the cake and spread it.

The edges were a bit tricky. I had to concentrate really hard.

And then the fun part! I mixed some red food coloring in the rest of the icing and it turned a very pretty pink. Amma taught me to use a small plastic bag and a mould to press out little pink flowers.

Opps, missed that one!

Round and round i went..

Till i had pink flowers all over!.

Finally, little stripes around the sides.

At last! Hurray!

My first omelette

I made my first omelette today all by myself and amma was surprised. I asked manoamachi to teach me last week. So this morning for breakfast, i cooked it myself.
First i took one egg and one small onion. I broke the egg in a small bowl and beat it. Then i peeled the onion and sliced it. I took some planta margerine and friend the egg and onion and i added salt.

Happy Ponggal!

Today is Ponggal

We built a fire outside the house. Then decorated a clay pot beautifully..put milk into it and let it boil. When it boiled over, we shouted Ponggal o Ponggal!

We decorated the house entrance with sugar cane and fresh mango leaves..

I dressed in new clothes and jewelleries..

The Naughty Mouse

Once upon a time, there lived a naughty mouse named Pipi. It was a naughty mouse. It always steal’s people’s things in there houses.

One day, Pipi saw a bird singing on a tree. The bird likes to sing all day. Pipi does not like the song that the bird was singing. Pipi threw a stone at the bird. The bird flew away.

The next day, Pipi saw the bird singing again. Pipi threw another stone again. But the bird did not fly away. Pipi got angry. Pipi could not climb the tree. Suddenly, Pipi saw a polar bear climbing the tree. Pipi asked the polar bear for help to climb the tree.
The polar bear said yes. Pipi sat on the polar bears body and set off to kill the bird.

Finally, the polar bear reached the top of the tree. The polar bear found the nest. The polar bear left the mouse on the tree and went down the tree. Pipi was waiting for the bird to come back. But the bird did not come back until night.

The next day in the morning, men came to kill all the birds. They killed the mouse by mistake. The bird came back midnight. The bird saw the mouse with blood. The bird threw the mouse down the tree.

The cake is very delicious. We cut it into 15 pieces. I had the first piece!

I love the cookie cutter. I rolled the cookie dough and used the cookie cutter to press the design and cut out the shape.

Today was my school sports day. I won a gold and a bronze medal.

It was very hot.. but i was very excited..

Mummy captured the relay race ...i was the fourth and final runner.
Our team came first!

I also won a bronze in 100m sprint

All my friends cheered when i received my gold trophy. I am very happy!

Once upon a time, there lived a butterfly in a garden named Pipi. Pipi is a beautiful and kind butterfly.

One day, Pipi saw a worm that was eating the leaves of the flowers in the garden. Pipi saw the wom, but it said kindly " Mr.Worm, please do not eat the leaves of the flowers" said Pipi to the worm. But the worm said ' i do not have food in my house' said the worm. 'well, you can stilleat the fresh leaves in the forest' said Pipi. 'Oh', i forgot' said the worm. But, the worm said, 'I can, but my mother will not let me eat the leaves of the flowers in the forest'. 'Why'? asked Pipi. ' I
do not know'?!. ' Well, it's ok, you can eat the leaves in the garden anytime Mr. Worm'!.

' Thank you' said the worm. They became good friends.

A big lion.

Once upon a time, there lived a big lion in the forest.The lion will eat anything that he sees in the forest. He will also eat humans and animals. Even birds.

One day, he saw a deer that was looking for food. The lion was roaring at the deer. The deer got scared of the lion, but it ran away.

The next day, the lion saw an elephant. But, the lion did not know what was the plan that the elephant was thinking. The elephant said to the animals ' we must find a way to kill the lion' .

So, the third day, the rabbit went to the cave to see the lion. 'Roar! ' said the lion, but the rabbit was not scared of the lion. the raBit said ' lion come with me and i will give you a sea to drink'. The lion was thinking. 'ok' said the lion. ' come on' said the rabbit.

The lion followed the rabbit to the sea. They reached there. The rabbit said 'look at your self'.
The lion got scared when he saw himself. 'ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh' ! said the lion. The rabbit pusHd the lion into the water. That was th end of the lion. The animals in the forest were safe.

I love my parents. I love my grandparents. They are old. My favourite colour is red. I have 2 dogs. Their are Shaminic and Vaishu, my gorgeous dogs. One of the neighbourhood dog's name is Jonny is always disturbing my dogs. I always try to chase him, but he does not go to his house. He is a kind and handsome dog, but he wants to make babies with Vaishu. I don't like it. I like to watch Chutti TV. It is my favourite progame. My best friend is Sheila. She is 8 years old. We study in the same school. We are both best friends. Last time, I had a best friend named Shamala. She sometimes does not talk to me , but sometimes she does. I don't like a friend like that. I will not talk to her again. Sometimes, she gets angry for simple things that I do. I don't like it when she does that. But Sheila won't do that. She is very kind to me. We are both best friends.
